I love RTS games, but I sometimes wonder if I could learn a language faster than a new game[1].

If you choose to give Kadigan a go, I can promise you won't have that problem. But hopefully you'll have a few minutes of fun sending your fleet through a web of enemy lazer beams, tentatively poking at hordes of neutrals & finding the perfect moment to "pop".

Gameplay

  • Control a fleet of tiny ships
  • Manage your economy with a single slider
  • Attack neutrals, defend your moon & invade the enemy moon to win
  • Adapt your tactics to a map that's constantly changing

About

I developed Kadigan for the GitHub Game Off 2020 jam. The theme "moonshot" encouraged me to explore an RTS with a dynamic map. In the spirit of the jam, here's the repository: DouglasOrr/Kadigan. I've had a wonderful time making this game - loads of fun & so much to learn!

If you've read this far, you might be interested in my main complaint. Basically, the Hard AI keeps beating me handily. I'm pretty sure I made it play fair, and it's not very clever at all but the unit micro just seems too good[2]. Why do their ships never seem to die?

[1] I can't. Unless it's a LISP.

[2] Even though it literally only knows "select all army". No finesse at all.
